Slick Rick
People often ask the age-old question, 'Am I my brother's keeper?' For the last 20 years, my answer to that question has been a resounding, 'Yes.' Being Ricki's keeper wasn't just a duty to me; it was a daily choice to protect, support, and stand by my brother through everything. For nearly 20 years, being his keeper meant managing medications and hospital visits, navigating difficult health days, and sacrificing pieces of my own life. But it also meant shared smiles and a bond that very few people get to experience. What began as a family duty became a proud honor in my life. Even as health challenges slowed him down, the vibrant spirit and the strength of 'Big Rick' never faded. I will cherish the summer afternoons we spent talking about NBA games, cars, and the winter evenings listening to him tell funny jokes. Ricki acted tough at times in his life, but he learned to cool down. I miss my brother and his laughter, but I take comfort knowing that 'Slick Rick' is finally resting in peace.
